Silk screen printing is ideal for larger designs and perfect for T-shirts as the material is lighter. The technique involves applying a stencil to a porous silk or polyester screen. The stencil forms open areas of mesh which, once applied with a squeegee, allow ink to pass onto the garment below, creating a sharp edged image. The process uses separate screens for each colour involved in the design; so you can have as many colours in your design as you like.
Screen printed T-shirts are particularly suited to:
- Promotional clothing for product launches. These often require large volumes to give away with a simple print in one or two colours. A light value-weight T-shirt is ideal.
- Events and exhibitions. Here you’re looking for maximum impact. Black T-shirts with a multi-position print are a favourite. Mid-weight T-shirts are popular as the fit is often better and the print looks crisper.
- Charity work. We offer a 50% discount on all custom clothing for registered charities.
- Staff uniform. You need good quality, heavyweight T-shirts that can be worn and washed, time and time again, without shrinkage or colour fading. We recommend embroidering the logo to the left chest, and the web address applied to the back by screen printing. Shirt style should be ideally be fairly fitted.
- Resale and brand building. Top of the range screen printed T-shirts in vintage / distressed / fitted styles. Heavy material, washable at high temperatures, these T-shirts might feature more complex designs.

Custom Screen Printing
When it comes to custom screen printing, pretty much anything is possible. We’ve got a large selection of tee shirts in our online brochure, but we can source any size and any style you want. In the event that we can’t get the exact colour you’re looking for, we can pantone-match the colour you need and dye each T-shirt with total precision.

Custom screen printing can be applied to any and as many positions on the shirt as you like, within a centimeter or so of each seam.
Depending on your design requirements, your budget and the end result you’re looking for, we may use heat seal transfer printing. It’s an unfairly maligned printing method that’s come on in leaps and bounds over the years, now offering impressive durability.
It achieves a different look to screen printing and is more commonly used for smaller quantity orders and personalisation. This is achieved by heat pressing cut vinyl or other materials onto the T-shirt, which can then be washed at 40°C like any other shirt.
