For some of us a stag night idea might be as simple and stress-free as a night down our local or a pub crawl through town; a night in with the boys, some beers, a takeaway, the footie and a few games of poker; a gentle, comfortable and enjoyable goodbye to singledom.

The rest of us want something just a little bit special.

And frankly we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to stag ideas. The whole world seems to beckon us, entice us with its multitude of exotic destinations and exhilarating activities. So let’s take stock. First off, no stag night or stag weekend is complete without a custom T-shirt. If the stag do you’re planning is restricted to one day and/or one night, you’ll obviously be staying here in Blighty. Two days and you’re looking at the chance for a real stag activity weekend.

All sound a bit low-key? Ok, how about a spot of tuition to take you to the next level? 4x4 off-road driving, racing at Silverstone, rally driving and tank driving. We’re getting misty at the possibilities. In a manly way of course.

All a bit dry and near the ground? Then go kayaking, white water rafting, powerboating, bungee jumping or sky diving. Perhaps you could order some spare trousers to take along, as well as your stag night shirts.

Crawling back along the mental high dive? No problem – take a football club tour, book a table at a comedy club, dribble your way through a brewery distillery tour or wine tasting. More sedate and frankly more dignified stuff.

And if UK stag dos are just too easy, get you and your chums on the Eurostar or a budget flight. City breaks are a great stag idea: from the inevitable Amsterdam trip to Paris, Prague, Barcelona, Krakow and Dubrovnik. All that beauty, culture, astounding architecture and, well, strong European beers.

Perhaps your stag do outfits will have ‘Ibiza 2010’ proudly stamped across the chest, perhaps ‘the big Las Vegas Con Tour’…your stag weekend, your stag ideas.
